In our blog post on theAll Hallows,we talked about how today in Church tradition is called All Saints Day; a feast day commemorating saints - those in the Church who died in persecution for their faith. But, did you know that today is also the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church? Across the world, today is observed over 100,000 different church congregations where they focus their prayer time on others who are facing difficult times due to their faith. Will you join with us today as we remember not only the saints but also the missionaries, ministers, elders, and all others who have given of their lives for the furthering of the Gospel message as well as those currently facing persecution for their faith in Christ?
God, we come to you today with a heart of gratitude for the blessings that you have given to us. We know that to be a follower of you Jesus, does not guarantee a life free of persecution and strife. In fact, you have told us through your Word that it is the opposite. So, today, we remember those that have given of their lives and have died in the service of you and the spread of your Gospel message of love, hope and salvation. Holy Spirit, we also ask that you will be with those currently under persecution for their faith. Give them comfort. Give them strength. And if it is in your will, we ask that you deliver them from that situation. Though your will be done, God. If it is not your will for them to be removed from the persecution, we ask that those that see and meet them will see your glory and love and will come to a saving knowledge of you. Please also give us the strength that we need to stand strong in you and in the faith that you have given to us. We pray this in your name, Lord Jesus. Amen.
